Burgundy, London and Côte d'Azur

Spring weekends are a temping period to get away and discover. This year weekend trips included a short excursion to Burgundy, a weekend in London and a few days on the Côte d’Azur in southern France.

North Burgundy offered bright yellow canola fields contrasting with green pastures. Even after many visits to this region of France it does not cease to surprise me: lovely medieval villages, the endless countryside, delicious restaurants and the amount of castles. In a tiny village I came across a crumbling but impressive castle with towers and a moat. It was for sale! After making a few inquiries I realized that it was indeed affordable to buy but impossible to renovate unless you had a line-up of very generous sponsors…

The weekend in London was combined with a travel writing class among professionals and a bit of sightseeing. I had forgotten that London has a fantastic diversity in people, food and books!

Beware of the Côte d’Azur during the summer vacation! This region attracts thousands of tourists every year seeking sun, beach and fun. Last weekend was perfect and still calm to take a swim in the 20 Degree Mediterranean Sea, go a walk along the coast and enjoy the southern sun. The colour of the water at this time of year is breathtaking.
