There is a wonderful park to visit near Anduze called the Bambooseraie. It is known across Europe as having the largest collection of bamboo of France. A passionate lover of botany named Eugène Mazel opened the park in 1856. He acclimatized species from China, Japan, North America and the Himalayas.
I have seen lots of bamboo travelling across Asia but did not know that there are 1,450 species! They are amongst the fastest growing plants of the world. Some types of bamboo can grow 100 cm per day and can reach 30 meters in height!
